Our Story

IC Math & Science is a math and science academy in Fullerton, CA, where both directors teach.

The two of us, Chi Young Ji and Insung Whang, knew each other from church. We were both full-time tutors with no room for more students, so in the summer of 2023 we opened an academy together.

It started in Insung’s home and thankfully grew from there. As of fall 2026, we work with 12+ teachers and 150+ students from all across the US and Canada.

Every student needs to experience what it is like to fully understand something. The goal is not just to score well on tests, but to understand complex concepts, explain them in their own words, and connect them to see the big picture. Students who cultivate this ability at a young age can succeed in life, especially in today’s era flooded with information and AI.

Also, beyond college admissions, we want to be good grown-ups our students can look up to and have fun with. We found the best teachers across the U.S. and work as one team with parents.
