Everything You Need to Know About ICMS

Frequently Asked Questions

At ICMS, we believe quality education starts with expert instructors. Unlike many centers that rely on college students, our classes are led by experienced educators, with more than 80% holding a Master’s degree or higher. Our faculty focuses on teaching students the “Why” behind complex concepts, not just the “How.”

We provide comprehensive Math and Science programs tailored to specific grade levels:

  • Math (Grades 5-12): From Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, and specialized prep for the SAT and AMC/AIME exams.
  • Science (Grades 7-12): Junior High Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and all AP-level science courses.

Yes. We offer flexible learning environments to meet each student’s needs:

  • In-Person & Online: Choose between 1:1 or small group instruction at our Fullerton center or through live, interactive online sessions.
  • Small Group Capacity: Our group sessions have a maximum capacity of 5 students. We strictly limit our class sizes because we believe in providing personalized learning and individual attention to every student.

Absolutely. We prioritize the right fit for every student. We offer a complimentary consultation and a trial session so you can experience our teaching style firsthand. Additionally, we do not require long-term contracts, allowing for a flexible commitment that works for your family.

Communication is a pillar of the ICMS experience. We provide a Monthly Report for every student, which tracks academic progress and overall engagement. For any questions regarding your child’s progress or curriculum, our Directors are always available to provide detailed feedback and ensure total transparency.

To maintain consistency, we encourage regular attendance. However, we understand that schedules can change. With at least 24-hour notice, we will work with you to arrange a makeup session or offer credit for the following month.

Policies

We understand that families are busy, and schedules can be unpredictable. If a student misses a session without any notice, we consider it a no-show.

For private 1:1 sessions, we will wait 15 minutes before cancelling the class as a no-show.

We know unexpected situations come up. If you need to cancel a session, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Cancellations within 24 hours follow the standard policy of no refund/credit unless there is a genuine emergency (e.g., sudden illness, family crisis).
  • Our teachers prepare lessons and reserve the time specifically for your child. Please let us know in advance if you need to cancel.

To create an effective and focused learning environment, our small group sessions are designed to remain intimate. Small group classes may have a maximum of 5 students. This ensures that each student receives adequate attention and that our teachers can deliver quality instruction to every child in the session.

To maintain a fair learning environment and protect the value of live instruction, we have updated our Zoom recording policy.

  • Zoom recordings for absent students will be provided half the regular class tuition. This is to ensure fairness and to respect the commitment of families who attend consistently.
  • Families have freedom to purchase the recordings or not
  • However, we highly recommend purchasing the recording, so that the student will not miss out on important topics covered in class.

We appreciate your understanding as we ensure an equitable system that respects both the teacher’s time and the commitment of families who attend consistently.

We want every child to get the most out of their learning experience. To maintain consistency and help students progress, we encourage families to prioritize scheduled class times.
We kindly ask that students not miss class for reasons such as last-minute studying, school project meetings, or manageable homework loads.

  • Group classes are 1.5 hours long.
  • If a student misses a group class with proper notice, we offer a 1-hour 1:1 make-up session to keep them on track. The one-on-one focus allows us to cover the key material in a shorter time.
  • Depending on the availability of our teachers, the make-up class may take place with a different teacher.

We keep billing simple:

  • Invoices go out by the 5th of each month.

We kindly ask that payments be made by the 15th.

If an absence is communicated 24 hours in advance, families may choose either:

  • a refund, or
  • a credit applied to the next month.

Absences reported within 24 hours follow the regular cancellation policy.

To respect everyone’s schedule, sessions end at the originally planned time even if a student arrives late. Encouraging students to come a few minutes early helps them settle in and get the most out of their learning time.

If a teacher is unexpectedly unavailable, a qualified substitute may teach the session. This will definitely be infrequent and for unexpected reasons only. If your primary teacher is unavailable for more than 2 consecutive sessions, we will discuss alternative long-term arrangements with you.

While teacher substitutions don’t qualify for refunds or credits, we always ensure the quality and continuity of instruction remain strong.

To ensure the best experience for your child, we ask that all parent communication go through our directors rather than directly to teachers. This allows our teachers to stay fully focused on what they do best — teaching your child — and protects their time and energy so they can show up fully prepared for every session.

Our directors are always available to address your questions, concerns, or feedback and will ensure the right people are informed promptly. You can reach us via phone or through our consultation form.
